Built from sandstone and Indian bedford limestone, the South Dakota State Capitol was completed in 1908 and is still used as the home of the legislature. The capitol is located in the heart of the downtown area, just north of the waterfront and Griffin Park. Underneath the copper dome are a series of murals of Greek Goddesses painted by Edward Simons in 1910; though the murals were in a state of disrepair, a recent renovation has brought their inherent beauty back to the forefront.
Open daily 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
